CATERER

The management of the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research into Tropical Medicine (KCCR) together with the Filariasis project at KCCR is looking for a caterer. The project, titled “Tackling the Obstacles to Fight Filarial infections and podoconiosis (TAKeOFF-2)” is funded by the German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The project seeks to address the barriers to lymphatic filariasis (LF) and podoconiosis elimination in addition to providing innovative and valuable insights into other disease conditions such as onchocerciasis.

 

Main Responsibilities/Activities

  • Prepare a variety of foods for the research group during field activities.

  • Plan menus according to a fixed budget.

  • Observe food safety and sanitation practices.

  • Ensure all meals are prepared on time.  

  • Ensure that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and that any defects are reported promptly to the group leader or Project Manager.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by Superiors, including Principal Investigator(s), Co-Investigators and Project Manager.

  • The successful applicant should be prepared to work in any part of the country and for longer hours.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

 

The Post holder should have the following: (E = Essential; D = Desirable)

 

  • Applicants must have at least a WASSCE, NVTI certificate Diploma in a cooking-related course (E).

  • Must be able to work under pressure (E).

  • Must have experience in catering services (D).

  • Must have excellent communication skills (D).

  • Must have good standards of hygiene (D).

  • Applicants should be organized and methodical (D).

  • Must have experience of cooking for a group (D).

  • Must have basic computer knowledge (D).

 

The contract will be for a period of 2 years (renewable)

Expected starting date: 1st October, 2023
