Successful Kick-off Meeting of the TAKeOFF-2 Project in Ghana

The Ghana TAKeOFF-2 team had its official kick-off meeting on July 14, 2023, at the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine (KCCR) in Ghana. The event marked the beginning of an ambitious scientific journey aimed at building upon the achievements of the TAKeOFF-1 project.

The kick-off meeting commenced with an address by Prof. Alexander Debrah, the director of TAKeOFF-2 consortium. He set the tone for the event by reflecting on the successes and challenges of the TAKeOFF-1 project. The dedication and hard work put into TAKeOFF-1 laid the foundation for this new endeavour.

Study collaborators from the clinical, pharmaceutical, and public health institutions, who were also present at the meeting, emphasized the significance of this scientific initiative. They demonstrated an unwavering commitment to supporting the consortium and showed genuine enthusiasm for the upcoming research tasks in TAKeOFF-2.

One of the pivotal moments of the kick-off meeting was the presentation of the seven research tasks defining the TAKeOFF-2 project in Ghana, along with two additional research tasks from TAKeOFF-1. The team will meticulously carry out these tasks over a 5-year period. The Director (Prof. Alexander Debrah), Principal Investigator (Dr. Linda B. Debrah), Project manager (Dr. Jubin Osei-Mensah), and post-doctoral fellows explained the aims and objectives of each research task to all team members, demonstrating the depth of expertise within the team.
